THURSDAY 30TH APRIL

GOOD MORNING CLASS!

It's the last working day of the month and tomorrow starts a long weekend ("puente" in Spanish).

What do we celebrate tomorrow?
The first of May in the International Worker's Day.

It's a day to honor all the people that work for us, like doctors, police officers, teachers, drivers, construction workers, cleaners, etc. We must be thankful to all these workers because the are at our service and make our lives easier.

And now, after this introduction to our last working day of the week, we are going to talk about our work.
It's time to start with the CONDITIONAL SENTENCES:

FIRST CONDITIONAL  (primer condicional)
IF       YOU STUDY,        YOU WILL PASS
    SI         ESTUDIAS,          APROBARÁS
Como veis, la frase tiene dos partes:
Una condición:             IF YOU STUDY  (Si estudias) -   TIEMPO PRESENTE
Y una consecuencia:    YOU WILL PASS (aprobarás) -    TIEMPO FUTURO

YOU WILL PASS IF YOU STUDY

IF PRESENT + WILL
WILL + IF PRESENT

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

SECOND CONDITIONAL (Segundo condicional)
IF    YOU STUDIED          YOU WOULD PASS
Una condición:             IF YOU STUDIED  (Si estudiases) -   TIEMPO PRASADO
Y una consecuencia:    YOU WOULD PASS (aprobarías) -      CONDICIONAL

WOULD pone el verbo en condicional:              You WOULD pass (aprobarías)

Fórmula del segundo condicional:

IF PAST + WOULD
WOULD + IF PAST

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

First conditional
UNLESS      YOU STUDY,        YOU WON'T PASS
  Si no               estudias,               no aprobarás
 Second conditional
UNLESS      YOU STUDIED,     YOU WOLDN'T PASS
Si no              estudiases,              no aprobarías

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

YOU WON'T PASS UNLESS YOU STUDY
  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MONDAY 27TH - TUESDAY 28TH

GOOD MORNING CLASS!
Third week after holidays and it's raining again!
The good thing is that most of you have the chance to go out of home for a short walk everyday. And that is a lot after seven weeks of confinement.

WELL! It's time to keep on working. We are in the middle if the unit. Most of you have learnt how to use the FUTURE (WILL - BE GOING TO - PRESENT CONTINUOUS [for future]). We are going to keep on practicing the FUTURE with a really interesting text about a futuristic means of transport:

THE THREE D EXPRESS COACH

Read the text on page 76 first. Look up in the dictionary the words that you don't understand. When you understand it well, listen and repeat it several times. Then record your voice and send an audio with your best pronunciation.
Here is the recording of the text:

Today we are going to start with the grammar of this Unit: THE FUTURE.

I have posted two good videos. You can see them on the right of this page:

There are three ways to talk about the future in English (Well, there are more, but you don't learn them in second ESO)

PREDICTIONS: WILL:
The Coronavirus Crisis will end soon
La crisis del Coronavirus terminará pronto

PLANS: BE GOING TO
We are going to make a big party soon
Vamos a hacer una gran fiesta pronto

DEFINITE PLANS: PRESENT CONTINUOUS (with future meaning)
We are watching the film on Saturday

Please read the grammar appendix on pages 169 to 172 of your textbook and take notes. Everything is perfectly explained in Spanish.

And the activities for today and next Monday are:
